Mumbai: Mufasa: The Lion King, the highly anticipated live-action prequel to Disney's 2019 blockbuster The Lion King, has made a strong launch in Indian cinemas, grossing INR 74 crores in its first week. The film, which was released in many languages (English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu) on December 20, 2024, has captured audiences around the country thanks to its spectacular graphics, captivating storyline, and powerful voice performances. Following The Lion monarch's global triumph, Mufasa: The Lion King offers a new perspective on the beginnings of the legendary monarch of the Pride Lands, Mufasa. The picture, directed by Barry Jenkins, follows the fabled ascension of Mufasa through the perspective of an orphaned cub, his troublesome sibling Taka, and their adventures with a colourful cast of misfits.
