Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a case against former Telangana IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) for suspected irregularities during the Formula E race event. The case came to light during court proceedings, when the Advocate General (AG) pointed out dubious payments made to Formula E Operations (FEO). According to the AG, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), which was not directly involved in the event, paid ₹55 crores to FEO. This raised concerns among the judiciary about the purpose and beneficiaries of these transactions. The court specifically enquired about any personal benefits that KTR may have received from the payments.

Responding to the court's questions, the AG stated that the investigation would determine who benefited from the alleged misappropriations. The judiciary determined that the matter did not qualify as an urgent petition, allowing it to proceed via ordinary investigation procedures. This practice has prompted questions about the transparency of financial transactions at high-profile events, as well as the responsibility of public monies in such efforts. Further information about the probe is awaited.
