At Kakinada Anchorage Port, Pawan Kalyan orders the seizure of a ship carrying 38,000 MT of rice bound for West Africa.
After port authorities denied him access to examine the ship and the rice being loaded onto it, the deputy chief minister takes action. It is reported that the ship carries 640 MT of PDS rice that was seized in June. Following a search to prevent the unlawful export of rice from the ports in Kakinada, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Friday requested that officials seize the Stella L Panama, a cargo ship heading for West Africa, which was carrying 38,000 metric tonnes of rice at the Kakinada Anchorage Port. When he attempted to enter the ship to confirm the documentation and the rice being loaded into it, Department of Ports officials refused to comply, therefore Mr. Pawan Kalyan ordered the ship to be seized.
