Telangana: Over 17,000 students skip the first day of intermediate exams

 

Despite the massive turnout, two malpractice incidents were reported, one each from Hanamkonda and Warangal districts. The exams ran successfully in 1,532 centres across the state.

On the first day of Telangana's Intermediate Public Examinations, approximately 17,000 first-year students did not show up for the Second Language Paper - I on Wednesday. Only 4,96,899 of the 5,14,184 students who enrolled for the exam actually appeared.

Despite the massive turnout, two malpractice incidents were reported, one each from Hanamkonda and Warangal districts. The exams ran successfully in 1,532 centres across the state.

Students complain about inadequate facilities. Some students in Hyderabad expressed worry about inadequate facilities at specific exam centres. Complaints included a lack of wall clocks in test halls, which made it impossible to keep time. A parent whose child took the exam at a private junior college in ECIL expressed unhappiness with the lack of clocks and the limitation on wearing conventional wristwatches.

However, authorities from the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TG BIE) explained that a bell was sounded every 30 minutes to remind students of the remaining time.
